Attorney Geoffrey H. Hand

Geoffrey H. Hand joined the firm as an Associate Attorney in 2003. His practice is focused primarily on environmental litigation, renewable energy development and regulation, and land use law. He also provides support for the firm’s other practice areas, including business and non-profit law, and general civil litigation. Geoff received his J.D. and a Masters of Studies in Environmental Law, both summa cum laude, from Vermont Law School in May of 2003. He was the recipient of the 2003 Maximilian W. Kempner Award for exemplifying the highest standards of competence, integrity, respect, fair mindedness, and public service. While in law school, Geoff served as an editor and staff member of the Vermont Law Review, and was also selected to receive an Albert Schweitzer Fellowship to help establish the school's first environmental law clinic.

Prior to attending law school, Geoff worked with the Conservation Law Foundation in Boston in the organization's media relations and communications department. He has a B.A in biology and neuroscience and behavior from Wesleyan University. Geoff currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington, and is a Board Member of the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust, a land trust located in Rangeley Maine.
